I just returned home from having surgery. The surgery was to remove the g tube and thus eliminate one of the problems that I had been fighting for the last year. Actually, the tube and the balloon was coming through my chest and stomach a couple of weeks ago and my alternative was a collection of tubes and bags and Hospice. I had been wanting to do this surgery for several months since the treatment of going to smaller tubes did not appear to be working. This surgery is very difficult and my original surgeon did not want to do it.
I found a new, young and skilled surgeon who had never done this surgery and so far, everything looks real good. Using a wound vac system the wound should completely heal in less than a month.
Now, onward, to step two! I am planning the initial steps for radiation treatments to reduce the blockage and then for reversing the ileostomy! |
